COVID-19 F.A.Q.s

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the daily lives of parents with children and has introduced a new level of concern around child care. We know this is difficult, and we are here to help you navigate the complexities the coronavirus has added to your life. We prioritize the health and wellbeing of our children, parents, providers and staff in our Pacific DayCare community and are following the guidance of federal, state and local agencies to ensure everyone is safe and comfortable. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office at (510) 239 - 5506 x 122 to speak with one of our team members.

Q. How do you ensure your providers are aligned with COVID-19 protocols?

A. Each staff member and care provider is required to be fully vaccinated by November 30, 2021*. It is important for families to directly discuss expectations with the care provider with regard to mask wearing, social distancing, and hand washing protocols.

*Note, if the care provider is a family member to the client, lives with the client, is exempt from vaccination for religious beliefs or has a qualified medical exemption, the caregiver is not required to be fully vaccinated; however, a weekly negative COVID-19 test and mask wearing are required.

Q. Are providers required to wear masks while caring for my child?

A. Yes. All care providers are required to wear masks during childcare shifts.

Q. How will we know if the care provider is taking precautions?

A. Care providers must take their temperature and self-screen themselves for COVID related symptoms at least two hours prior to starting a shift and record their temperature on their timesheet. If a care provider has symptoms, they must contact the family and their supervisor to cancel their upcoming shift (further instructions are provided by their supervisor). If a care provider tests positive for COVID, or has been exposed to someone with COVID, they must contact the family and their supervisor to cancel their upcoming shift. We will work with the family to arrange alternative care.

In addition, care providers must sign a waiver agreeing to tell Pacific Daycare if they have been exposed to a person who has tested positive to COVID-19, so we can make arrangements with the family to find another option for care

Q. What if someone in my family contracts COVID-19?

A. Please call your provider and then the Pacific Daycare office as soon as you are aware of a positive COVID-19 case in your immediate family, or if anyone in your family has been exposed. We will help you navigate the situation. For the health and wellbeing of your care provider, if anyone in your family has a fever or is not feeling well, please inform your care provider, and then the Pacific Daycare office. Providers will stay away from your home until everyone is healthy.

Please refer to the CDC website for more guidance on mask wearing, social distancing and other COVID-19 guidelines.
